Atlantic Seaboard skip hire, suburb by suburb
The Atlantic Seaboard is the hardest part of Cape Town to place a skip. Clifton, Bantry Bay and Fresnaye are steep with little level ground, and in Sea Point, Green Point and Mouille Point many people live in blocks where the options are a visitors' bay, a body-corporate area or the road. Road placement needs the City's written permission first.
| Suburb page | Typical placement | Access note |
|---|---|---|
| skip hire Bakoven | Measure the gap between gate posts or garage walls before you book. | Bakoven's streets come off Victoria Road (the M6), the coastal route from Camps Bay towards Llandudno and Hout Bay. |
| skip hire Bantry Bay | Check the slope: a skip on a steep ramp is awkward to load and harder to lift. | Victoria Road carries the main seaboard traffic through Bantry Bay, and the residential roads above it climb sharply towards Ocean View Drive, with tight bends and parked cars along the kerb. |
| skip hire Camps Bay | Book refurbishment skips between guest stays, not over a peak weekend. | Trucks reach Camps Bay along Victoria Road from Clifton or Bakoven, or down Camps Bay Drive from Kloof Nek. |
| skip hire Clifton | Count the steps and plan the carrying: bags you can lift, not overloaded crates. | Victoria Road through Clifton is the main coastal route between Camps Bay and Bantry Bay, and on summer days its edges are lined with beach parking from early morning. |
| skip hire De Waterkant | Speak to neighbours early; on a shared terrace, a skip outside affects everyone. | De Waterkant's streets are short and narrow, lined with parked cars and broken by tight corners where they meet the steeper lanes up towards the Bo-Kaap. |
| skip hire Fresnaye | Open the gate and move cars before the truck arrives. | Fresnaye's streets are steep, some with sharp bends and cars parked along one side, and there are few places to pull over. |
| skip hire Green Point | Check the stadium and park event calendar before choosing your delivery week. | Main Road, Somerset Road and the routes past the stadium towards the V&A Waterfront carry heavy traffic, and on match or concert days the roads around Cape Town Stadium are congested or closed for hours. |
| skip hire Hout Bay | Give estate security the delivery week and ask how contractors are logged in. | Trucks reach Hout Bay over Constantia Nek on Hout Bay Main Road, or along Victoria Road from Camps Bay past Llandudno, and both routes slow on summer weekends. |
| skip hire Llandudno | On a single-lane stretch, a skip in the road can block neighbours in. | Every vehicle enters and leaves Llandudno along the same road off Victoria Road, which then winds down through the village in steep bends. |
| skip hire Mouille Point | Get the body corporate's written agreement before booking. | Beach Road runs along the front, and on fine weekends it is busy with promenade walkers, cyclists and cars looking for parking near the Waterfront. |
| skip hire Sea Point | Never let the skip narrow a Sea Point pavement for pedestrians. | Main Road carries MyCiTi buses, minibus taxis and steady traffic through the day, and Beach Road fills with promenade visitors on weekends and summer evenings. |

The 2m³ skip arrives
The skip-loader truck sets the skip down on the spot you choose, normally a driveway or yard. A spot on the road or verge needs the City's written permission first.
Fill it, then collection
You get 3 days to load it to the rim. Collection and licensed disposal are in the price for rubble, garden and household waste.
Driveway or road in the Atlantic Seaboard
Driveway or road: the City rule
A skip on your own driveway, yard or paving needs no City permit. A skip on a public road, pavement or verge needs the prior written permission of the City of Cape Town, according to the City's Streets, Public Places and Prevention of Noise Nuisances By-law, 2007, section 10, which counts the verge as part of the road.
The application is a Temporary Use (of the road reserve) form, handed in at the Roads Infrastructure Management district office. The admin fee is R712 for 2026/27, and the City can ask for a refundable deposit. There is no online application.
